How to get and use helpful extensions for Blackboard (building blocks)

Last Updated: 29/07/09

A ‘building block’ is the name for a type of feature that can enhance the functionality of Blackboard or to integrate it with external applications, content or services.

For example, a scientific calculator ‘building block’ is available to allow you to use scientific notation in Blackboard. Building blocks are created by independent developers.

Hundreds are available. Building blocks are not free.

They must be paid for.

To set up a building block, follow these steps:

Step 2

When you decided on the building block you want, contact UCD IT Services to ask if it is compatible with our version of Blackboard.

Email: blackboard.support@ucd.ie

Step 3

If it is compatible, you can then buy the building block.

When you receive it (by download or email), forward it to blackboard.support@ucd.ie for installation.
