Printing from Blackboard

Last Updated: 24/08/10

Instructions for printing Blackboard documents.

When printing files that are stored on Blackboard, you should first save the file to your disk. Then open the saved file with the relevant application (e.g. PowerPoint), and print from there.

If you open a file within the Blackboard program (i.e. when you can still see the course navigation buttons on the left, and the file contents are visible on the right), and choose File - Print from the browser window, it will print the file, and the contents of the Blackboard page. This will result in pages of useless data being printed, along with the document.

To save a Blackboard file, use one of the following methods:

  1. Click on the document link in Blackboard. Most new Web browsers will present the option to open or save the file.
  2. Right-click on the document link and choose Save Target As... or Save Link As... (depending on your browser).
