Last Updated: 29/08/11

Step by step instructions on setting up Eduroam on a Windows XP SP3 machine

Step 1

To download the installer click here

Step 2

The security warning message box appears, click Run, and click Run again

Step 3

Choose your language and click OK then click Next

Step 4

Read the License agreement and click I Agree to proceed

Step 5

Choose Components: Make sure TTLS 4.1.0 is ticked and click Install

Step 6

Completing Installation. Make sure Reboot now is selected and click Finish

Step 7

When the PC has rebooted, you should receive a Message Balloon saying “Click here to select a certificate or other credentials for connection to the network eduroam”. Click on this.

If the Balloon does not appear make sure the wireless functionality on the PC is enabled and that you are in a Wireless Hotspot Area: http://www.ucd.ie/itservices/itsupport/wirelessandlaptopsinucd/wirelesshotspots/

Step 8

Enter your UCD Connect Username and Password and click ok.

Potential issues: Windows will automatically connect to the first available network. To make eduroam the first available network, right-click on the wifi icon on the taskbar and click View Available Wireless Networks. Click on Change the order of preferred networks. Ensure the checkbox Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings is ticked. Ensure eduroam is higher than WaveLAN in the list. Click OK.
