Setting up eduroam on Linux

Step by step instructions on setting up eduroam on Linux


Step 1

Follow the link below and download the CA Certificate file:

Step 2

Clink on the Network Manager icon on the top right of the screen and choose eduroam from the list of available networks.

Step 3

In the ‘Authentication required by wireless network’ window enter the following settings:

  • Wireless Security:WPA & WPA2 Enterprise
  • Authentication: Tunneled TLS
  • Inner authentication: PAP
  • Identity: UCD Connect username (add @ucd.ie to the end of it)
  • Password: UCD Connect password
Step 4

For the CA Certificate File, click the file/folder icon to the right and browse to where the CA Certificate file was downloaded to in Step 1. Select the file and click OK.

Step 5

Click Connect to Network. You should now be successfully connected to the eduroam wireless network.

Using eduroam outside UCD

All usernames will have to contain the home institution’s domain name. Here at UCD our domain is 'ucd.ie'.
To authenticate enter your UCD Connect username followed by the domain in the format username@ucd.ie and then your UCD Connect password.
