Setting up eduroam on Mac OS 10.7 Lion

Step by step instructions on setting up eduroam on Mac OS 10.7 Lion


Step 1

From the Apple menu, select System Preferences. Click once on the Network system preference in the Internet & Wireless section.

Step 2

Select the Wi-Fi interface from the list. Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on and tick Show Wi-Fi status in menu bar.

Step 3

To install the eduroam profile click here

Step 4

Choose Continue when presented with the Install “eduroam”? screen. Click Continue again. If this does not appear then browse to where the profile file was downloaded to and double click it.

Step 5

Click Install. Enter your system Administrator password when prompted.

Step 6

The profile will install. When complete it will be listed under User Profiles in the Profiles system preference.

Step 8

Return to the Network system preference screen, select Wi-Fi and select eduroam from the Network Name dropdown. Enter your UCD Connect username (add @ucd.ie to the end of it) and your UCD Connect password in the Username and Password fields. Make sure the Remember this network box is ticked. Click Join.

Step 9

If you see the text Authenticated via TTLS then it has been successful.

Using eduroam outside UCD

All usernames will have to contain the home institution’s domain name.  Here at UCD our domain is 'ucd.ie'.
To authenticate enter your UCD Connect username followed by the domain in the format username@ucd.ie and then your UCD Connect password.
