Using eduroam on an Android device

Step by step instructions on using eduroam on an Android powered device.

PLEASE NOTE: Android powered devices are produced by a variety of manufacturers each of which may customize the interface in a different manner. As such, the instructions below may not exactly match your device. There are also several different versions of the Android operating system available that may also lead to deviations from the steps below.


Step 1

Follow the link below to download and install the certificate file:
CA Certificate

Step 2

Enter the certificate name in the pop up box “cacert.crt” click OK

Step 3

Enter the password for the certificate store if prompted (This password is specific to the device and configured by the user / owner)

Step 4

Go to the main menu, choose Settings/Wireless & Networks/Wi-fi settings

Step 5

Click on Eduroam

Step 6

For EAP Method choose TTLS from the drop down menu
For Phase 2 authentication choose PAP
For CA Certificate enter cacert.crt
Leave Client Certificate as n/a
For Identification enter your UCD Connect username in the form username@ucd.ie, click next
Anonymous identification should be set to ucd.ie, click next
For Wireless password enter your UCD Connect password, click next

Step 7

Click Connect. You should now be successfully connected to the eduroam wireless network.

Using Eduroam outside UCD

All usernames will have to contain the home institution’s domain name.  Here at UCD our domain is 'ucd.ie'.
To authenticate enter your UCD Connect username followed by the domain in the format username@ucd.ie and then your UCD Connect password.
