How to set-up your UCD email in Eudora (Staff)

Follow these steps to set-up your UCD e-mail in Eudora.
Start Eudora.
Click Tools at the top of the screen.
Select the menu item Options...
In the category listing, select Getting Started.
Change the options to the following:
- Real Name: your name
- Email address: email address
- Mail Server (Incoming) imap.ucd.ie
- User Name: UCD Connect username
- SMTP Server (Outgoing): smtp.ucd.ie
- Allow Authentication: checked
Click Checking Mail.
Make the following changes in this window:
- Mail server: imap.ucd.ie
- User Name: UCD Connect user name
- In the item, Check for mail every 'X' minutes, change that number to "10". Setting this to "10" tells Eudora to check your mail every 10 minutes.
- Under Secure Sockets when Receiving, from the dropdown menu select: If available, STARTTLS.
Click Incoming Mail.
The default Server configuration is IMAP.
You need to change two things in this new window:
- IMAP Mailbox Location Prefix - leave this blank
- For Authentication Style choose Passwords
Click on Sending Mail icon.
Changes to be made in window:
- Make sure Allow authentication is checked.
- SMTP Server: smtp.ucd.ie
- Under Secure Sockets when Sending, select from the dropdown menu: Required, STARTTLS.
- Make sure Use submission port (587) is checked
Click OK to exit Options.
A Password Authentication window will appear.
Enter the password for the IMAP server and click OK.
Look at the Mailbox window; a list of mailboxes should show up under Dominant profile.
To finish the configuration, open the Inbox mailbox under Dominant and highlight a message.
Click Tools from the main menu.
Click Options.
Click Incoming Mail.
On the right the “When I delete a message:” section specifies where your mail will be stored on the computer/server when you delete it.
The default is to move the deleted messages to the Trash on the local computer.
The following is instructions to change the settings so that deleted messages are stored on the server when deleted.
Click on the radio button “Move it to:”Next, click on the box to the right.
Navigate to Dominant.
Select New....
A New Mailbox window will appear which creates a new mailbox on the server.
Enter Trash to create a Trash folder on the server.
Your email is now setup.
