How to check how much space your have left on your H: drive

All students have 500MB of personal space on their home directory or H: drive. Staff are allocated 1GB of personal space on their home directory or H: drive.

Follow these procedures to check how much space you have left.

Note: These procedures apply to computers that use the Microsoft Windows operating system only. If your computer uses a different system (e.g. Apple Mac), contact the Helpdesk to find out how much space you have left.


Step 1

Login to the UCD (‘Novell’) network. Find out how to login.

Step 2

Check your desktop to see if a logo called NAL is listed.

If the NAL logo is listed, double-click it.

If it is not listed, skip to Step 5.

Step 3

From the list of folders in the left-hand-pane, click Networked Applications.

Choose User Management.

Step 4

In the right-hand pane, click Check User Space.

Your free space will then be listed.

Step 5

If the NAL icon is not on the desktop, click the Start button on the your desktop.

Step 6

From the menu, click Run

Type in NAL..

Click OK.

Step 7

From the list of folders in the left-hand-pane, click Networked Applications.

Choose User Management.

Step 8

In the right-hand pane, click Check User Space.

Your free space will then be listed.
