How to set up automatic security updates for a computer using Apple Mac OS X

It is important that your systems software is kept up to date.

If a security threat occurs, such as a bug which affects systems, you will then be less likely to be affected by a virus or worm.

To configure Automatic OS Updates for Mac OS X follow the steps below.


Step 1
From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences  
Step 2
From the View menu choose Software Update. Click Update Now. Select the items you want to install ,then click Install.  
Step 3

Enter an Admin Username and Password. After the Update is complete, restart the computer if necessary.

Step 4
From the Software Update Preference panel click the radio button for Automatically updating. From the Check for updates pop-up menu choose the interval you prefer (daily,weekly, or monthly).
