How to set-up automatic scanning of files using UCD Anti-Virus software (Sophos On Access)

You can setup anti-virus scanning to check files, whenever you open them on your computer.  This is done using the Sophos ‘On-Access’ utility.

To configure On-access scanning follow the steps below.


Step 1
Right click the Sophos icon in the taskbar and select Open Sophos Anti-Virus.   
Step 2
The Sophos Anti-Virus client will open as shown.   
Step 3
Click Configure Sophos Anti-Virus.   
Step 4
Next Click on On-access scanning.   
Step 5
The on access Scan Settings Editor will open. Under the Scanning tab ensure the following settings are ticked: Under Scanning Level choose Normal. Enable on-access scanning for this computer. Tick the check files box for On read.   
Step 6
Under the Clean-up tab ensure the following settings are ticked: Tick the checkbox to: Automatically clean up items that contain a virus and choose Move to from the options. Click Apply and OK to confirm these settings.
