How to set up a file scanning schedule using UCD Anti-Virus software (Sophos ‘On-Demand’)

You can setup anti-virus scanning to check files at regular intervals.
Sophos comes preconfigured to perform a complete scan of your system.
If you wish, you can change the scheduled time by following the steps below.
Sophos can be downloaded from UCD Connect.

Right click the Sophos icon in the taskbar and select Open Sophos Anti-Virus. |

The Sophos Anti-Virus client will open as shown. |

Click on Set up a new scan. |

Enter a recognisable name for your new scan. |

On the Items to scan menu,select the drives you wish to scan. Scan your C drive and any other local drives on your machine. |

Click Schedule this scan. |

The schedule editor will open as shown: Select Enable schedule and select the days you wish to run the scan. Click the Edit button to choose a convenient scan time. Enter your Windows Password and confirm it. Click Add followed by OK to confirm these settings. |

On the new scan page select Configure this scan. |

The scan settings window will open. Under the Scanning tab choose Normal for the scanning level. Tick the check box to Scan for potentially unwanted applications. Click OK to confirm and save these settings. |

Under the Cleanup tab ensure the following settings are selected: Tick Automatically clean up items that contain a virus and choose Move to. Click OK to confirm and save these settings. Sophos is now fully configured for optimal use. |
