How to use UCD Anti-Virus software (Sophos)

Sophos comes preconfigured with settings recommended by UCD IT Services.

With Sophos Anti-Virus there are 3 ways to scan files for viruses.

Step 1

“On-access scanning”

Sophos Anti-Virus 6 downloaded from UCD Connect contains a preconfigured scan which is scheduled to occur at 6pm each Tuesday.

Step 2

Right-click scanning

To do this simply right-click on the file or folder that you wish to scan and click on Scan with Sophos Anti-Virus

Step 3

“On-demand scanning”

On-demand scanning is a scan off all or parts of a computer that you can run immediately or set to run at a time of your choosing. By default an On-demand scan is set to run on all local drives at 18:00 every Tuesday.
