How to install UCD Anti-Virus software (Sophos) on Mac OS X

Notes:

Sophos Anti-Virus can be installed on Mac OS X version 10.6, in addition to versions 10.4 and 10.5. 

Any existing version of Sophos Anti-Virus should be uninstalled prior to installing version 7. 

This is performed by running: 

Macintosh HD/Library/Sophos Anti-Virus/Remove Sophos Anti-Virus.pkg

Further details about this version of Sophos Anti-Virus can be found in the ReadMe.html file in the Sophos 7.0.5 volume.

Step 1

To download Sophos Anti-Virus login to UCD Connect and select "Download software" from the Software Applications tab.

Step 2

On the left of your screen choose the "Software for Mac" menu list. Download the software and double click on InstallSophos7.dmg to unpack the software to a desktop volume.

Step 3

Open the Sophos 7.0.5 volume on the desktop. Select Sophos Anti-Virus.mpkg file to begin the installation. This will take you through the installation process.Continue through the steps and enter your system password when prompted to complete the installation

Step 4

When the install has completed, the sophos icon will be available in the menu bar. Click on this icon and select "Update Now" to download the latest virus definition files. This will occur automatically thereafter.
