UCD Mobile - New Features Available Now!

UCD IT Services have included three new features in the second release of UCD Mobile, two of which are enhancements to the UCD Mobile interactive map detailed below.

The interactive map also features one of the latest developments in mobile technology, Augmented Reality (AR) for the iPhone.  This leading edge technology leverages your iPhones camera, and GPS to identify the buildings around you in a 3D, interactive view.

With a tap of the screen users can find their nearest restaurant, IT support centre or student accommodation complex. Augmented reality also displays your current location in relation to the building you are looking for and the distance you will need to travel.  

UCD Mobile Tours

The new Innovation Tour is an interactive self guided tour which covers sites of Innovation across the campus. The tour runs from NovaUCD to the Conway Institute visiting many interesting sites in between. Each tour stop provides precise map location details, audio descriptions, image and contact information. There are also a number of different tour “views”. We propose to grow the tours module to meet expected demand.

UCD Places

Places provides all the information you will ever need about a wide range of campus locations directly to your mobile device. In the first phase we have included:
- IT Services
- Libraries
- Accommodation
- Catering

Information provided in an interactive format includes: opening hours, payment methods, location, contacts, menus and much more. With Places you can seamlessly move from an information page to the precise location on the GPS enabled campus map.

Library Catalogue Search

This new feature offers a full library catalogue search facility allowing students to browse for journals via their mobile phone. Students can find the actual location, call no. and availability status of any journal in the Library.
