Having difficulty connecting to the wireless network?
Last Updated: 08/06/12
Why not use the wired connection instead? For information on doing this click here.
Below are some tips for getting connected over the wireless network.
Wireless connectivity in popular areas such as the main Libraries can sometimes be difficult to access due to the high volume of users connecting from those locations.
If you are experiencing any difficulties accessing wireless in these or other areas, it is advisable to move to less busy locations or connect to the wired network.
Check that your web browser options are not manually configured to use any other specific internet settings
You can also try to re-fresh your wireless connection by releasing and renewing the IP address assigned to your device following one of the steps below
· Turn off and on via the wireless switch on your laptop (it varies on each laptop but it can generally be found on the keyboard/side of your laptop).
· Turn off and on via software (most client utilities and Windows Wireless Zero Configuration offer this option).
· Select the repair option under the client or windows utility which initiates a DHCP release and renew.
· Open a DOS Command prompt and issue the instruction directly : ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew.
· Disable/enable the wireless card in the Network Connections (as per screen shot below)
