Software for U
UCD IT Services new service Software for U, provides both staff and students access to a selection of the most popular academic application software from laptops and home computers. You can access this service through the IT Services tab in Connect and it is available to any user whose device runs a Windows, MAC, UNIX or Linux operating system. What applications are available?
The applications are run centrally from our data centre and dynamically delivered to the user's device on demand. As they are never actually installed, the result is minimal impact on your laptop or PC. This service uses a combination of Microsoft App-V - an application virtualisation system that packages and isolates applications for optimal performance (formerly known as Softgrid) and Citrix ZenApp - an application delivery system that provides flexible delivery to multi-platform devices.
IT Services will continue to add new applications to the service based on demand.
