ICHEC @ UCD - HPC Cluster Training Courses

This year the Irish Centre for High End Computing (ICHEC) range of courses on High Performace Computing from beginner to more advanced levels will be run in UCD from the 24th of March to the 27th of March. Places on all of the courses are limited to 16 but you can choose to attend which course you want to attend.

Introduction to HPC (1 day)
The Introduction to High Performance Computing (HPC) course introduces fundamental HPC principles and techniques that can be used to address problems in computational science and engineering domains.

Introduction to MPI (2 days)
The Introduction to the Message Passing Interface (MPI) course provides an overview of the MPI standard with a view to its application to scientific / engineering problems. Throughout the course, the basic concepts behind the message passing paradigm are discussed together with code examples. Course attendees will take part in practicals where they will have the the opportunity to explore motivational examples in C or Fortran using one of the ICHEC systems.

Introduction to OpenMP (2 days)
OpenMP is a directive-based API developed specifically for shared-memory parallel processing. The Introduction to OpenMP course provides an overview of the OpenMP standard with a view to its application to scientific and engineering problems. Throughout this course, the fundamentals of the OpenMP programming paradigm will be presented and discussed. Example codes will be utilised to help explain the concepts covered. Course attendees will also take part in practicals where they will have the the opportunity to explore motivational examples in C or Fortran using Hamilton ICHEC's shared memory system.

Pre-requisites
• All courses require a login on the Stokes Cluster. You can apply for a login on the UCD portion of the cluster here.
• UCD attendees must have a UCD Network Login. Apply here.
• If possible please bring along a wireless capable laptop. If you do not have a laptop please contact researchit@ucd.ie to ensure a machine is available to you on the day.
• Individual course pre-requisites are listed on the ICHEC site.

• Please note that courses for which there is little or no demand will not run.
