Donation of PCs to Pieta House

UCD IT Services is delighted to be in a position to help Pieta House by contributing 26 PCs to the non-profit organisation. The organisation was set up in 2006 and was the first centre in Ireland that specialised in the prevention of self-harm and suicide. Six years later, they have seen and helped over 6,000 people and opened up an additional three Outreach Centres in Dublin and another Centre in Limerick. Pieta House plans to open four more Centres of excellence in Cork, Galway, Tipperary and Kerry by the end of 2013. Their staff has grown to over 70 therapists and Admin staff.

These PCs were due to be returned to suppliers on a buy-back scheme as part of the PC recycling programme where they would normally be refurbished or stripped for parts.

As 80% of their income comes from Fundraising Events, Pieta House rely heavily on the support and encouragement of voluntary contributions.  The donation of these PCs means that Pieta House can now avoid the purchasing of computers which are essential to any rapidly expanding organisation and therefore focus their financial resources directly into counselling services.

We wish them the best of luck.
