UCD Mobile Now Featuring Augmented Reality

UCD Mobile's enhanced interactive map features one of the latest developments in mobile technology, Augmented Reality (AR).   This leading edge technology leverages your iPhones camera, and GPS to identify the buildings around you in a 3D, interactive view.

With a tap of the screen users can find their nearest restaurant, IT support centre or student accommodation complex. Augmented reality also displays your current location in relation to the building you are looking for and the distance you will need to travel.

Steps to launch Augmented Reality

1. Launch maps module on UCD Mobile Springboard
2. Launch GPS location arrow on bottom left of map
3. Click on augmented reality icon for current location
4. You will now see camera view. Point camera toward building or campus location you wish to get information on.
5. Click on pin for the building of interest to access map and time/distance to destination information.
6. Double tap map view for full building information including picture, map and details on Schools hosted in building.

To get back to normal map view:

1. Tap the screen to get out of the full building information view. This brings you to the building distance view.
2. Tap outside of the information window and you are back in the Augmented Reality view.
3. Tap once and again on the red icon to get to the normal view.
