Tip 1 - Protect your password

Never share your password with anyone, change your password frequently. More information on creating a strong password here.

Tip 2 - Protect your Data

Always sign out of web services and close down the browser when using services such as email, SIS Web and UCD Connect. Don’t forget to log off when using IT Services Computer labs.

Tip 3 – Protect your online information

Protecting your information is an important security measure to help avoid identity theft and protects your privacy. 

Never click on links sent in unsolicited emails. Use firewalls, anti-spyware, and anti-virus software to protect your home computer; keep them up-to-date. More information here.

Tip 4 - Backup, Backup, Backup

Always remember to regularly save your work regardless of whether you are using an IT Services computer lab or your own personal laptop. You can upload your assignments to your Google drive, or save to an external USB key or other devices.  (Remember - work saved to IT Services computer lab PCs will not be available after you log off)
