Welcome to UCD!! There are many IT services at your fingertips, please browse through the links in this guide which is designed to help you get the most from IT during your time at UCD.  Here are a couple of tips to start off:

A new release is now available! You can use the Map service to find your way around campus, get news, sports and events updates, find library journals over your phone as well as access the University eLearning service.

Connecting to the Wireless Network

The wireless service at UCD consists of the Wavelan wireless network (the primary wireless service) and the Eduroam wireless network (a shared service across member universities).

Remember your username and password to access the UCD Network

As a student, once you have been offered a place at UCD you will receive details of your computer account in the post.

Your username is your student number. The password is your date of birth in the format DDMMYY. You are advised to change your password after you have successfully logged in.

These details are valid for the duration of your academic career in UCD and you will need them in order to access IT and eLearning services.

As a member of staff you will need to request a UCD computer account.

UCD Connect - 24/7 Online access to IT services

Available 24/7 on and off campus, UCD Connect is your gateway to online services such as email, Google calendar, library services, university news, web file storage and eLearning resources.
Go to www.ucd.ie and enter your username and password to log in.

Student Email

Connect Email powered by Google has 25GB of storage space. That's more space than you will ever need!

You can access your email through UCD Connect wherever you are. Simply go to http://www.ucd.ie and enter your account details.

To start off you will log in using your student number and your password your birthdate (DDMMYY). You should then click on the "Email” icon. Once in you will see your new user-friendly email address.

You can also access your UCD email and Google calendar on your smart phone!

Google Calendar contains your class timetable!

You can see all your plans for the day including your class times and locations - and you can get your timetable and calendar on your iPhone. Along with Google Calendar you also have access to Google Docs so you can share documents, spreadsheets, and presentations and collaborate in real-time with anyone you invite to join.

eLearning

Blackboard is the University's eLearning system. It provides a range of tools to support teaching and learning and allows you to access reading lists, lecture notes, slide shows, multimedia such as audio, video or podcasts and more.  Tips and video tutorials available here.

Your tutor can interact with you by posting announcements, sending emails, commenting on discussion boards and setting up virtual classrooms.


 NB You can also get Blackboard on your smart phone through the free UCD Mobile app

 or by downloading Blackboard Mobile Learn available from your app store.

IT Facilities

During your time as a student at UCD you can avail of many IT facilities such as computer labs, Stand Up And Surf (SUAS) and laptop areas all across the campus. 

Printing

UCD IT Services and partner RICOH provide the student printing service in the IT Services computer labs in UCD. You can also print to a laser printer using your own laptop.

All first years get 50 cent free print credit to start you off!
