What graphics can you make for me?
We produce print graphics and page layouts (posters, leaflets, flyers, reports, diagrams and maps) and screen graphics (for PowerPoint presentations or web sites).
How much will my job cost?
Our graphic design service is completely free! We don’t charge for giving advice or for the design work. Printing costs will be incurred when we send a job out. We will gladly liaise with printers on your behalf at no extra charge.
What do I need to give you for a poster or other design?
You need to supply the final completed text in digital form and any graphics you intend to use. A rough layout/plan for your job would also be useful. It’s always a good idea to discuss your specific requirements beforehand.
What’s the turnaround time for my job?
It depends on the job. Simple posters, flyers or diagrams take a day or two but a booklet or report may take considerably longer. Please allow time for revisions/corrections or any technical challenges that may arise. Also, printers normally like to have a lead-in time of at least ten days.
Why can’t I use a web graphic in my publication?
Web graphics are designed for viewing on screen. As a result, they’re low resolution.Print graphics need to be high resolution (at least 300 dots per inch). Web images will be distorted and low quality when enlarged and printed.
Can you print my job?
We send all of our print jobs to outside printers. We can give you the job on disk so you can bring it to your printer of choice. Alternatively, we can manage the print process for you and present you with the finished job.
Where can I obtain suitable images for my job?
UCD Media Services has a freely accessible online catalogue featuring thousands of images relating to UCD. If you don’t find what you need there, our resident photographer may be able to take suitable images for you. This service is entirely free. There are web sites that offer free images, although the quality tends to be variable, depending on what your requirements are. You can also purchase images from stock photography sites.
