Virtual Servers

UCD IT Services offers managed virtual servers as a lower-cost alternative to managed physical servers. This service takes advantage of virtualization technology to host multiple virtual servers, each of which functions as a complete and independent server, on a single physical machine.

Our new Virtual Machine (VM) offering provides

  • 4GB Ram
  • 60GB HDD
  • VEEM backup (for Disaster Recovery)
  • Redhat or Windows 2008 licence
  • Optional build by ResearchIT

Console access is provided through a web interface

Storage

Additional storage is available through the following options

  • Local storage (approx 100 GB) available through IT Services
  • Mass storage (over 1TB) via UCD IT Services or HEAnet iSCSI option
