Google Chrome warning UCD.IE pages "Not Secure", Thursday, 26 July

Thu, 26 July 18

What is happening:

As of 26 July, the latest update to Google Chrome (version 68) warns visitors that web pages not protected with "https://" are "not secure".  IT Services are currently updating its managed websites, including www.ucd.ie to direct all visitors to a secure version of the page. The "s" in "https://" stands for secure and is essential for any webpage that processes sensitive information such as a login or payment, for example UCD Connect Single Sign On page uses https://.

If you are aware of any University web page which requires a login and is not protected with "https://", then this page is really "not secure" and you should not login, instead contact the IThelpdesk@ucd.ie with details about the page. In the meantime, you can access the "secure" version of http:/www.ucd.ie by going directly to https://www.ucd.ie.

Who will this affect:

Users of Google Chrome.
