What is Software for U?
Software for U provides both staff and students access to a selection of the most popular academic application software from laptops, home computers and open access lab PCs - without the requirement to install the software locally. The service is available to any user whose device runs a Windows, MAC, UNIX or Linux operating system.
Access & Support
Access to this service from the open access lab PCs is from the "Start Menu", "All Programs".
Access to this service from laptops and home PCs is through the Software Applications channel on the Home tab in UCD Connect. To use the service, it is first necessary to download and install the appropriate Web Interface plugin. For instructions click here. Links to do this for different platforms are provided in the "Software for U" channel in Connect. Once this is completed, customers can access applications by clicking the link, which launches the Software for U web interface.
UCD IT Services licences, installs and maintains applications in this environment, however, we are not in a position to offer in-depth support in the use of these applications.
