Microsoft Office for Staff
UCD's current Microsoft Campus Agreement allows UCD staff members to install Microsoft Office on UCD-owned machines. The contract also includes 'Work at Home Rights' for Microsoft Office which allows UCD staff rights to run one copy of Microsoft Office for work-related purposes on a laptop or home PC that they lease or own. UCD staff members include all full and part time UCD faculty, staff, and administrative employees.
Microsoft Office Professional 2010 is now available and offers flexible and powerful new ways to deliver your best work both in work or at home. You can now stay connected to your projects, even when you’re away from your computer, with access to Office files via Web browser or Windows phone. You can also work with others by sharing, editing, and reviewing files at the same time—even across geographies and time zones. Microsoft Office for Students

Microsoft have launched a start of term promotion that gives students who are actively enrolled in UCD, the option to acquire Office Professional 2010 via the Web at discounted student price. In addition to the standard issue Office components of Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook, Office Professional Academic 2010 includes OneNote 2010, a digital notebook for storing, searching and sharing notes and other information.
Office Professional Academic 2010 will also give access to the Office Web Apps, which allows you to work with your Microsoft Office files from more places and on more devices by providing browser-based viewing and lightweight editing of files. Access your work at any time from a Smartphone or computer with an Internet connection.
Note: To qualify, the individual must possess a valid e-mail address at UCD which contains the domain suffix 'ucdconnect.ie' or 'ucd.ie'. Each eligible student is limited to one purchase per valid e-mail address and you have the option to purchase the software on a DVD or as a download.

Microsoft Dreamspark

Dreamspark is a programme set up by Microsoft to provide students with software design and development tools at no charge. UCD students can now avail of this programme, providing instant access to powerful software applications.Software available includes:

To begin downloading development software offered by Microsoft, you will need to go to the Dreamspark website here.
In order to get this software from Microsoft at no charge, you will be asked to establish or verify your student status once every 12 months.You will need to sign up using your UCD email address. This offer is available exclusively for students - Microsoft does not extend this offer to faculty or staff.
Note: You must be at least 18 years old or have otherwise reached the age of majority in the place (province, state or country) where you live, or if not, your parent or legal guardian must accept the Microsoft Dreamspark software license terms on your behalf, in order for you to download and use the software.
MSDN Academic Alliance
The MSDN Academic Alliance is an easy and inexpensive way for academic departments to make the latest Microsoft software available in labs, classrooms and on student PC's. The program has two primary goals:
- To make it easier and less expensive for academic institutions to obtain Microsoft deveoper tools, platforms and servers for instructional and research purposes
- To build a community of instructors who can share curriculum and other learning resources to support the use of these technologies
