Blackboard Collaborate (Pilot)

Blackboard Collaborate (formerly Elluminate) is a real-time web conferencing tool, which can be used to support teaching and learning, as well as other collaborative projects in research or administration.

It provides a cost-effective and time-saving means of realising “anytime” and “anywhere” opportunities to teach & learn, meet and work together using video, audio, whiteboard, chat, weblinks and shared applications.

Access and Support

Teaching & Learning

Blackboard Collaborate can be accessed directly from within Blackboard.  It appears in the Control Panel under Course Tools and in a Content Area under Add Interactive Tool. The Instructor sets up a session and the student can access it from the Content Area page or through the Tools button of the module.

Research Collaboration and Administration meetings

Blackboard Collaborate can also be accessed from within UCD Connect.  It appears on the Home Tab in the Collaboration Tools channel. The staff member sets up a session and the participants can access it from the URL sent to them in an email.

Blackboard offers comprehensive support for the service including information on getting started, an extensive knowledge base, product training & documentation and technical support. You will find more information on these support services at Blackboard Collaborate Support.

You can also contact blackboard.support@ucd.ie for information about upcoming courses & events on Blackboard Collaborate and with any specific queries you may have.
