Lecture Capture

UCD IT Services has recently deployed a lecture capture solution in a number teaching spaces in UCD. This solution allows the lecturer to easily capture different aspects of their lecture and to make it available to their students via their Blackboard module.

Access and Support

This can be done in 2 simple steps which can either be completely automated by scheduling in advance or done in an ad-hoc manner on the day.

  1. Capture the podcast
  2. Process the Capture and publish to Blackboard

You can capture the following:

  • Anything presented via the PC or laptop
  • Anything presented via the visualiser
  • Audio from the room's AV system
  • Video input from a video camera (can be added on request

The service is available in Room B004 in the Health Sciences building, Rooms G6 and G3 in the Daedalus building and Theatre L in the Newman building. Additionally, a mobile solution is provided whereby customers can borrow the lecture capture laptop for periods of up to a week and record "unattended" lectures in the privacy of their own office.

Support is also available through online documentation or by email at teachingandlearningit@ucd.ie

Access to the service can be obtained by completing a Lecture Capture Request Form.
