Introduction to Google Search Appliance
The Google Search Appliance (GSA) delivers fast, relevant and secure
access to information. Taking Google's core search technology and
optimizing it for enterprise use, the Google Search Appliance provides
universal search across a variety of internal and external sources –
including file shares, intranets, databases, applications, hosted
services and content management systems. The Google Search Appliance
indexes all of the enterprise information and makes it accessible
through a single easy-to-use search box.
The Google search project here at UCD will replace all current ht://Dig searches automatically with a "global" UCD Content search. It will also be possible to adopt the Google search on local UCD sub-sites. An example of this approach can be viewed at http://www.ucd.ie/sociology. By adopting the local site search implementation your site visitors will be able to toggle between searching the local site content and "all of UCD" site content. For further information on adopting Google please visit our "Google on my website" link above.
