Modular Opportunities

New offering. Anyone with a law degree or a professional legal qualification is now able to study LLM courses one at a time, in a flexible manner.

What is it?

We call it 'Modular Opportunities' which means you can take individual modules when it suits you while balancing work, career and domestic commitments.

You can:

  • Study individual graduate modules
  • Accumulate credits over a prolonged period of time leading to a certificate, diploma or masters degree

You're not tied in to the normal one or two year cycle attributed to Diplomas or Masters Degrees

Who is it for?

Professionals who would like to study in an area of relevance to their career, either for CPD purposes or to acquire a post graduate qualification. You will already have an undergraduate law degree or be otherwise legally qualified as a solicitor, barrister etc.

How does it work?

You can:

  • Register as an occasional student, choosing a single module from a wide vareity of modules, such as International Trade Law, Social Law of the EU and Internal Market Law. Please see below for more information on the modules.
  • Decide, having studied one module, to come back at a later date and study another.
  • Accumulate 10 credits and you will be awarded a Professional Certificate in Law (postgraduate level) - you may also choose to register to this programme directly.
  • Accumulate 30 credits(3 x 10 credit modules) and you will be awarded a Professional Diploma in Law (postgraduate level) - you may also choose to register to this programme directly.
  • Accumulate 60 credits (6 x 10 credit modules) and you will be awarded a Graduate Diploma in Law
  • Complete an additional dissertation (worth a further 30 credits) and you will be awarded an LLM
  • Register for a Diploma or Masters programme, but extend the duration from the normal one or two years. You are permitted to do this by carrying one or more modules over to an additional one or more years

A module typically takes place over one semester September to December or January to May. There are normally 12 weeks of classes that are 2 hours in duration.
