Phillip Johnson joins the School of Law

 

Phillip Johnson has joined the School of Law as Associate Professor in Intellectual Property Law. He is also the co-ordinator of the LLM in Information Technology and Intellectual Property Law and teaches the graduate patent law module and copyright law module as well as the undergraduate intellectual property law module. He is a practising barrister in both England and Ireland and has acted for a range of clients from newspaper publishers and fashion designers to pharmaceutical companies. His research interests primarily lie in the area of intellectual property law and policy although he also undertakes research into aspects of EU and UK public law and private international law. His most recent books include Gurry: On Breach of Confidence (co-author, OUP 2012) and Ambush Marketing and Brand Protection (sole author, OUP 2011). He is currently writing a book with Professor Sheldon Halpern, Albany Law School, NY entitled The Harmonisation of Copyright Law as well as updating the Modern Law of Patents for its third edition.
