UCD School of Law Centenary Dinner
The School of Law has launched its celebration of a centenary of law graduates at its annual dinner, held recently. The guest of honour was Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Dr. Shirin Ebadi. Dr Ebadi was conferred earlier that day by UCD with a doctorate in laws, honoris causa. Dr Ebadi is a lawyer, lecturer, writer and human rights activist, noted for her defence of human rights and democracy in her native Iran.

UCD’s Acting Registrar and Deputy President, Professor Mark Rogers spoke about the teaching and research achievements of the School and acknowledged the scholarship winners who were present at the dinner. In his remarks the new Dean of the Law School, Professor Colin Scott, addressed some aspects of the School’s second century, and in particular the relationship between universities and the legal profession, broadly defined.
