UCD alumna new Director of Public Prosecutions
The School of Law congratulates Ms Claire Loftus on her recent appointment as the new Director of Public Prosecutions.Claire is a graduate of UCD (BA 1987; Higher Diploma in European Law, 1996). She qualified as a solicitor in 1992 and has worked in criminal law field ever since. She was the Chief Prosecution Solicitor in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions from 2001 to 2009 and, most recently, Head of the Directing Division in that Office. She is the first woman and the first solicitor to be appointed as Director of Public Prosecutions.
