UCD team wins National Moot Court Competition

A UCD team - Brian McCormick, Matthew Morrow and Neal Flynn recently won the National Moot Court Competition 2011, which was held in the Criminal Courts of Justice Building, Dublin. Brian McCormick also won the prize for best individual speaker. The School congratulates Brian, Matthew and Neal on their outstanding achievement and the other three UCD teams who took part on the commendable effort they put into to the competition.

An annual event, the National Moot Court Competition was organised by the DCU School of Law and Government and
and sponsored by the Irish Association of Law Teachers and Matheson Ormsby Prentice, Solicitors.

This year's hypothetical case, which the competitors had to argue before a panel of judges, was in the area of medical negligence law and dealt, in particular with the application of the statute of limitations, with the vicarious liability of a hospital for the actions of a consultant and with the availability of a 'wrongful life' action to a plaintiff.
