Law School PhD Student wins prestigious ANU Visiting Scholarship

Second year PhD student, Rumyana Grozdanova has won a prestigious visiting PhD Scholarship from the Australian National University (ANU). Rumyana has been invited to visit the Centre for International Governance and Justice, which is part of the Regulatory Institutions Network (RegNet) in the College of Asia and thePacific, the Australian National University in Canberra. The Centre for International Governance and Justice is dedicated to the study of theoretical and practical issues in international governance, human rights and social justice.

During her visit, Rumyana will participate in the project “Strengthening the International Human Rights System: Rights, Regulation and Ritualism”, which is under the auspices of Prof. Hilary Charlesworth. The project will document techniques of ritualism employed in the international human rights system and explore their relationship to the weaknesses and failures of that area of law. It will identify ways of resisting forms of human rights ritualism that undermine human rights commitments. The project is designed to encourage doctoral students in the area of human rights to visit the Centre for International Governance and Justice and participate actively in its research life.
