Tony Eklof: Retirement

The School sends its very best wishes for a long and happy retirement to Tony Eklof - for many years the Law Librarian at UCD. Tony joined UCD Library in 1976 and at first worked in Reader Services. In 1980, he took over as Law and Official Publications librarian, working with the late Miss Esther Semple, who had a similarly long and distinguished career in the Library (1943-1987). Tony remained with the Law and Official Publications section of the Library for almost 25 years. In this role, Tony represented the library on many committees, including those of the European Documentation Centre and the British and Irish Association of Law Librarians.

From 2006, Tony’s role changed to that of Liaison Librarian for, among others, the Schools of History, Music, Archaeology and Classics. Tony was the library representative on the Conul Advisory Group for Information Literary. He was also well known for his entertaining Teaching and Learning presentations to students and staff. Over the course of more than three decades, Tony forged strong relationships between colleagues in the academic community and the library.

The School wishes Tony and his wife Clare the best with their plans for the years to come.
