New European Partnership Formed, UCD reaches agreement on a new Masters programme at the School of Law.
UCD School of Law recently welcomed representatives of six other European Law Schools to formally establish the new Masters in Comparative, International and European Law (CIEL) which will be offered at the School from this September.
Students on the new programme study for one semester at UCD taking modules from the LL.M. programme and spend the second semester at one of our partner universities in Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, or Spain. The final semester will be spent writing a dissertation to be supervised by a member of staff at UCD and a member of staff from the university visited in the second semester. Students will receive a Masters degree from UCD and a certificate recognising their participation in the exchange programme.
Partner universities are the University of Antwerp, the Central European University in Budapest, the University of Maastricht, the University of Mannheim, the University Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, and the University of Toulouse 1 – Capitole.
A welcoming reception was organized by the President of UCD before the partners held their meeting. Dean Gert Straetmans and Ms Mieke Briels (University of Antwerp), Dean Aalt Heringa and Ms Marijke van Hoof (University of Maastricht), Professor Renata Uitz (Central European University), Dean of Study Affairs Marc-Philippe Weller (University of Mannheim), Dean Josep Ferrer Riba (University of Pompeu Fabra), Vice-President for International Affairs Professor Sylvaine Peruzzetto, Dr. Alexandra Mendoza-Caminade, and Ms Claudine Chambert (University of Toulouse 1 – Capitole) were all at the reception.
From UCD, Professor John Jackson (Dean), Professor Joe McMahon (Vice-Dean), Professor Colin Scott, Dr. Marie-Luce Paris, Ms. Justine McCann from the School of Law, and Dr. Erik Lithander, Head of the International Office, attended.
