Dr Lynsey Black presents at ‘Human Rights in Focus’

At a recent ‘Human Rights in Focus’ event, Dr Lynsey Black of the Sutherland School of Law presented findings from her recent CoSSL-funded research trip to Barbados. While there, Lynsey conducted focus group research into public opinion on the mandatory death sentence, which still remains on the statute books in Barbados. This is an ongoing research project with Dr Lizzie Seal (University of Sussex) and Dr Florence Seemungal (University of Oxford/University of the West Indies).

‘Human Rights in Focus’ took place in dlr LexIcon and also speaking on the night were Dr Cliona McGovern, who spoke about her work on Female Genital Mutilation in Kenya, and Dr Pat Gibbons, who talked about his research on slums. Breakout Research is a new interdisciplinary outreach initiative based in UCD, which brings together researchers and members of the public. Breakout Research was organised by Dr Holly Dunbar, Dr Shane Lordan, Dr Slawa Rokicki, and Dr Alice Mauger.
