Donal Casey is a Ph.D candidate and Ad Astra Research Scholar at the University College Dublin School of Law. His research, which is being supervised by Professor Colin Scott, concerns the issues of legitimacy and the regulation of food safety and quality by non-state actors. Donal is a graduate of University College Dublin (BBLS 2006; LLM (European Law) 2007). Between 2007 and 2010, Donal was a senior tutor at UCD School of Law for Irish constitutional law, tort and European Union law, and was on the editorial board of the University College Dublin Law Review. Donal’s empirical research interest is in the area of food governance and regulation, and his analytical interest lies in the issue of legitimacy.
