The Development Studies Collection

  • The Development Studies Library (DSL) is located on Level 3 of the James Joyce Library.
  • UCD students and staff can use the Development Studies Library and borrow its material by accessing the James Joyce Library building using their student or staff cards.
  • This library is freely open to any member of the development community or the public who wish to use it. No university affiliation is necessary to apply for an access card.

The scope of the Development Studies Collection

The Development Studies Library has been supported by UCD and Irish Aid since its foundation in 1987.

Our collection includes reports and publications from various Irish and international NGOs and institutions including:

Searching for Development Studies Library resources

  • Most of the books and print journal titles in our collection can be searched through the UCD Library catalogue.
  • Some theses, books and pamphlets are not searchable through the catalogue. Please contact the Development Studies Library office for further information.
  • Our databases and e-journals can be accessed through findit @UCD Library.
  • Please note that non-UCD members can only access our e-resources if they are physically present in UCD.
  • Please contact the Development Studies Library for help.

Development Studies Library Meeting Room

We have a meeting room available for booking. The room seats 8-10 people and is an ideal venue for meetings, tutorials and group study. This room is freely available from Monday to Friday on a first come, first served basis and is open to:

  • UCD staff teaching a development course or module
  • UCD students undertaking a development course or module
  • Members of the development community
