About access to free data from Ordnance Survey Ireland and URBIS: Irish Spatial Data
Some areas around Dublin city centre, Belfield and Dun Laoghaire are available as follows: Vector data at 1:1,000 scale, Raster data at 1:5,000 scale, Discovery data in raster format at 1:50,000 scale, Aerial data in Raster format. The full coverage available can be seen on this Vector map.
The Lidar data comes in two maps, featuring selected areas of Dublin. The areas can be viewed on this Lidar map.
This mapping is Bare Earth filtered data, mapped by surveyors and omitting buildings and other topography. This provides bare ground topography, useful for getting an overview of the contours of an area, but not providing details of height of buildings.
This web mapping interface enables you to view, interrogate and create PDF maps of Irish digital spatial data maintained by Urban Institute Ireland. URBIS provides access to mapping layers including county boundaries, townland boundaries, electoral divisions, town and village locations and Discovery mapping for the Leinster area. The URBIS portal also includes datasets for rivers, protected areas, road and railway transport networks.
Digital and lidar data is available to obtain, for free, in Richview Library. It is strictly for educational use.
Terms and conditions for use of OSI material must be adhered to when using this data.
