Visitors to the Library
There are various arrangements in place for non-UCD members to gain access to our libraries.

- ALCID Card
- UCD Alumni Card
- Non-UCD Students/Researchers

- Non-Profit Organisation or Commercial Company
UCD Graduates
UCD Graduates may apply to become either an external borrower or external reader in UCD Library.
- Borrower: The scheme allows you to access our libraries, borrow material, and access online resources. It costs €200.00 for twelve months.
- Reader: This allows you to access the Library but you may not borrow under this scheme. See our desktop page for the different cost options available.
ALCID Card
Your ALCID card must be processed by UCD Library on your first visit. You can use the resources available in UCD Library, but not to borrow books.

UCD Alumni Card
Members of the UCD Alumni Association can use the resources available in UCD Library, but not to borrow books or access our electronic resources.

Non-UCD Students/Researchers
If wish to use the resources in UCD Library, you can apply to become an external borrower.
- Borrower: It costs €300.00 for twelve months for both borrowing and access rights.
- Reader: This allows you to access the Library but you may not borrow under this scheme. See our desktop page for the different cost options.

Studying Abroad
You need to ask your own library for a Letter of Introduction to use UCD Library. We then will provide a temporary Library card allowing access for up to two weeks.

SCONUL Access Card.
Your SCONUL Access card must be processed by UCD Library on your first visit. Bring the completed SCONUL application form to the UCD Library Admissions Desk, together with your SCONUL Access card and your University ID card.

NovaUCD and NIBRT
- Borrower: The scheme allows you to access our libraries, borrow material, and access online resources. There is a fee of €100 for twelve months access and borrowing.
- Reader: This allows you to access the Library but you may not borrow under this scheme. There is a fee of €30.00 for twelve months access.
