If you have borrowed an item, and it is due for return before you are finished with it, it may be possible to renew the loan. This option is not possible where material is in demand or in Short Loan or 4-Hour Loan.
How can I renew a book if I am not finished with it?
It is often possible for you to renew your book loans, if you are not yet finished using them.
However, for material that is in the Short Loan or 4-Hour Loan collections this option is not possible as these books are in demand, or may be on reading lists.
Where this is the case, check to see if an additional copy of the book is available in one of our other collections.
Renew your book
If the item is not late then you can renew it (if you are already logged in through UCD Connect):
In UCD Connect, go to the My Library tab, then click on My Account.
Click on the check box next to the item you want to renew and click on Renew Marked or Renew All.
The Library system will not allow you to renew when items:
Are from the Short Loan or 4-Hour Collections. These books are in demand, or may be on reading lists. You could check to see if an additional copy is available in the collection.
Have been reserved by another borrower who needs them.
Are already overdue.
The Library system will also not allow you to renew when:
There is a fine on your account of more than €5.00
When a message has been placed on your account. For details, contact the Library - by phone: (01) 716 7639; by email; or call in to see us.
Tip
Overdue fines apply to all staff and students. Return or renew your books on time to avoid paying fines.
