This page provides information on printing and scanning at UCD Library. It is also possible to print from your laptop and from your USB device.

Printing in the Library

Library printing services is provided by RICOH.

You can collect your print job from any printer anywhere in UCD.

Follow these steps to print from a computer in UCD Library:

Step 1

Go to the File menu and choose Print.

The default printer setting is A4BWPRINTER. You can select from the following list:

  • A4BWPRINTER: A4-sized paper in black-and-white
  • A4COLOUR PRINTER: A4-sized paper in colour
  • A3BWPRINTER: A3-sized paper in black-and-white
  • A3COLOURPRINTER: A3-sized paper in black-and-white.
Step 2

When you select Print a pop-up message appears. Enter your student number.

Step 3

Press Print

Step 4

After you send your job to print, you must physically go to the printer you want to print from and then ‘release’ it. A card-swipe machine will be placed beside (or on top of) the printer.

Step 5

Swipe your student card (with black mag-stripe facing down) OR enter your UCD student number.

Step 6

Press Enter, using the big arrow key.

Step 7

Enter your PIN number (default: 0000).
Note: We recommend that you change your Printing PIN. To change your PIN, visit https://nrgwebsvr.ucd.ie/webcentre

Step 8

To select your print job, use up/down scroll keys and press Return.

Step 9

To print your print job, press Return.
To cancel your print job, press Cancel.
You have up to two hours to release a print job. After this time, it will be deleted.

USB Printing and Scanning

Library USB printing and scanning service is provided by Copi-Print.

Copi-Print have upgraded their services to UCard (new campus smart card). For a limited time there will be UCard and EMOS (ols Copi-Print system) in place within all library sites until the EMOS cards are devaluated.

USB Printer / Scanning locations:

USB Printing

Follow these steps to print from a USB device:

Step 1

Insert the USB key in the connection provided at the Copi-Print computer.

Step 2

Click the USB icon on the screen to open the file you wish to print.

Step 3

Select the Print in the application.

Step 4

Type in your student number in the pop-up box. This confirms that the print job belongs to you and can only be retrieved by your card.

Step 5

Highlight your print job(s) on the printer and press PRINT.

To finish press EXIT.

Scanning

Follow these steps to scan:

Step 1

Place your student card at the sensor beside the machine

Step 2

Press the arrow button on the top-right of the display

Step 3

Press the E-Mail button and type in your email address

Step 4

Place the original document on the glass (singel page) or in the feeder (multiple pages)

Step 5

Begin scanning by pressing the green START button on the machine

To finish press EXIT.

Copi-Print Visitor Cards

Visitor cards are available from card dispenser machines located in our libraries.

  • Cards cost €5 each
  • Cards are reusable - you can find detailed instructions on the UCard website
