• 38 individual study rooms are available in James Joyce Library.
• These are for postgraduate students only. There is priority booking for Doctoral and Masters Research students based on the Belfield campus.
• Allocated for a month at a time in fixed booking periods through the year.
• Demand exceeds supply so there is often a waiting list to get a room for a month.
• Normal Library regulations apply to these rooms, but also read and follow the study room regulations.
• Open quiet study spaces are located on Level 2 and Level 3 of the James Joyce Library.

Booking individual study rooms

• There are fixed date periods for room allocation as shown in the table below.
• Doctoral and Masters Research students, who have priority, may book on day one or day two of the allocation period.
• Taught Master students may book rooms if any are still available on day three.
• Queuing, with sign-in sheet, starts at 8.30.
• Please queue at the General Information Desk, Level 1, James Joyce Library.
• Rooms are allocated from 9.30.
• Please return room keys on time to the Information Desk, Level 1 by 13.00 on Saturdays, the final return date, or before.

Quiet study areas

The James Joyce Library provides designated quiet study spaces. These are designed to provide a silent place to work where you will not be disturbed by computers or conversation.

Laptops, mobile devices and personal music players may not be used in these electronic device free zones.

These spaces are located on Level 2 and Level 3.
