There are two Information Desks in the James Joyce Library:

• General Information Desk, Level 1
• Level 2 Information Desk

General Information Desk, Level 1

The desk is located on Level 1 of the James Joyce Library, opposite the Admissions Desk.

In addition to general enquiries, this desk deals with the following:  

• General reference queries.
• Assistance with locating print and online materials.
• Use of e-resources, e.g. databases, e-journals.
• Off campus access to e-resources.
• Inter-Library Loan services.
• Theses consultation service.
• Newspapers.
• Store item retrieval (JJL store, Newstead).
• Access to other libraries (Letters of introduction, ALCID and SCONUL schemes).
• External reader and external borrower schemes.
• Allocation of individual study rooms (JJL).
• Assistance with microfilm readers / printers.

Information Desk, Level 2

The JJL Level 2 Information Desk provides a range of information and support services for students and staff in the areas of Arts & Celtic Studies, Human Sciences, Business (undergraduate), Science, Agriculture, and Engineering.

Along with general enquiries, this desk deals with the following services:

• Locating reading list material.
• Finding subject information to support your essays and projects.
• Using e-resources e.g. subject database, e-journals etc.
• Booking of James Joyce Library group study rooms.
• Accessing the Postgraduate Research Centre.
