The British Nutrition Foundation will coordinate workpackage 6, the dissemination programme which aims initially to increase awareness about the scope of the problem of the metabolic syndrome, the need for action and the aspirations of Lipgene. During the project, BNF will disseminate information arising from Lipgene and its findings to a range of target audiences. The dissemination package also includes a series of conferences and tailored workshops in various EU countries, the development of conference proceedings and tailored web-based materials for various target groups, and an information relay using new and existing networks of communication.

If you would like to register to receive updates about the Lipgene project and forthcoming events, or to check out previous events/publications, please click onto www.nutrition.org.uk/Lipgene.

Workpackage 6 will be led by Dr. Judy Buttriss, supported by Dr. Joanne Lunn.

The British Nutrition Foundation (BNF; www.nutrition.org.uk ) promotes the nutritional wellbeing of society through the impartial interpretation and effective dissemination of scientifically based nutritional knowledge and advice. BNF works in partnership with academic and research institutes, the food industry, educators and government.

The Foundation is a charitable organisation which raises funds from the food industry, government, the EU and a variety of other sources. BNF produces a variety of publications: comprehensive Task Force Reports; concise detailed reviews or Briefing Papers; a quarterly journal called the Nutrition Bulletin; and a variety of fact sheets and tailored syntheses for different target audiences. It has an extensive schools education programme targeting both pupils and teachers. BNF also provides an information service for journalists with a genuine interest in nutrition matters.
