Findings from the Lipgene Project

The Lipgene project adopts a truly integrated approach to examine the interaction of food supply and genes in the metabolic syndrome, in an attempt to redress the global tide of obesity and its complications.
Lipgene comprises 6 workpackages:

Excellent progress has been made on all aspects of this multidisciplinary project and much of the experimental work is now completed. Researchers are currently analysing and interpreting the results. Many scientific papers have already been published (see ‘Publications’ section) with many more expected over the next few years. This should allow us have a much clearer understanding of how the nature of dietary fat interacts with an individual’s genetic make up in the development of the metabolic syndrome. Details of the main project findings are also available here.
