McGilligan Shield

This year will bring the return of the McGilligan Shield, a tradition of the society since the 1980s, in which the Literary & Historical Society invites a team from each of the Law Society, the Commerce & Economics Society and the Historical Society to challenge an L&H team in an annual once-off debate event - with victory ensuring perpetual glory, and a trophy, and anything less, resounding shame!

This has been a forgotten tradition for the past decade, and one which we at the Literary & Historical Society are eager to restore. As such, we will be inviting the other societies to send a team of two speakers to represent their society and compete in a debate against the two representatives from the L&H, in a showdown to take place in early October.

Date to be confirmed, as we wait to see who will rise to the challenge!
