MarBEE is a dynamic group of researchers with broad interests in marine biology and is one of the largest of its kind in Ireland. We are undertaking projects to tackle pure, strategic and applied issues, including relationships between biodiversity and ecosystem functioning, animal behaviour, population genetics, spatial ecology, evolutionary biology, fisheries biology and the functioning of marine nature reserves. Much of our research aims to provide a scientific basis for the conservation of marine biodiversity and the management of fisheries resources. We have received support from a wide range of funding agencies and the group is part of the MARBEF, the EU Network of Excellence on biodiversity and ecosystem functioning
